Boiling Brook Parkway / Schuylkill Road Intersection – Possible Change

Based on feedback from the community, the RCA asked the Montgomery County Department of Transportation to consider removing the “hot right” from Boiling Brook Parkway on to Schuylkill Road. This intersection is dangerous for pedestrians and the changes are aimed at calming traffic and improving pedestrian safety. Please share your feedback with me privately at chad@randolphcivic.org or with the community on our Yahoo Group.

Santa’s Ride Through RCA-land Canceled

Sadly, Santa will be unable to visit Randolph Hills this year for safety reasons due to the predicted thunderstorms. We don’t want to put our Scout helpers (or Santa) in an unsafe situation. Logistics issues for Santa’s fire truck also contributed to the decision. We hope this unusual cancellation will not dampen the Christmas spirit as Santa will be back on Christmas Eve delivering Christmas joy. He plans to return next year for the annual pre-Christmas visit through RCA-land.

Community Day and Neighborhood Fun!

On October 5th, fun, fitness, and food were once again delivered to RCA residents on a warm and sunny morning. The 2nd annual race saw a doubling of last year’s participation with 24 neighbors competing in the 5k loop course through the RCA neighborhood. The race kicked off at 10am and the runners raced off onto the Rock Creek Park hiker/biker trail, down Ashley, around the CESJDS and the community garden, and back into Randolph Hills Park. This year the ages ranged from 7 to 62!  We like to thank all the participants and course volunteers for making the whole thing come together on race morning.

For the official 5K race results click here.

This year the kids fun run was in the softball field closest to the playground and also had quite an impressive field.  First up were the 5 and unders who did one loop around the field at a breakneck pace that only 5 and unders can accomplish.  The 6 and older field was a little smaller and completed an endurance testing 2 laps of the field.  It was great once again to have cow-bells, cheering, and laughing in our local park! We hope you will join us next year to continue to build on the success of the event.
