The RCA Community Day, hosted at Randolph Hills Park on Saturday, Oct. 3, is still on starting at 12:00! The 5K and Kids’ Fun Run is canceled due to Montgomery County closing all county fields for the weekend. Come on out and enjoy good food and good neighborhood conversation. Hope to see you there!

Mark your calendars for a special RCA Meeting on May 1st at 8pm, at the Veirs Mill Rec Center (map). We have invited all of the candidates for the House of Delegates in our district, District 18, to attend our meeting. Each candidate will introduce themselves and then be available for individual questions from our community members. This is not a debate, but a great opportunity to interact with each candidate. We have confirmations from all of the candidates: Delegate Al Carr, Delegate Jeff Waldstreicher, Delegate Ana Sol Gutierrez , Candidate Natali Fani-Gonzalez, Candidate Rick Kessler, Candidate Emily Shetty and Candidate Elizabeth Matory.

On October 5th, fun, fitness, and food were once again delivered to RCA residents on a warm and sunny morning. The 2^nd annual race saw a doubling of last year’s participation with 24 neighbors competing in the 5k loop course through the RCA neighborhood. The race kicked off at 10am and the runners raced off onto the Rock Creek Park hiker/biker trail, down Ashley, around the CESJDS and the community garden, and back into Randolph Hills Park. This year the ages ranged from 7 to 62!  We like to thank all the participants and course volunteers for making the whole thing come together on race morning.

This year the kids fun run was in the softball field closest to the playground and also had quite an impressive field.  First up were the 5 and unders who did one loop around the field at a breakneck pace that only 5 and unders can accomplish.  The 6 and older field was a little smaller and completed an endurance testing 2 laps of the field.  It was great once again to have cow-bells, cheering, and laughing in our local park! We hope you will join us next year to continue to build on the success of the event.

All participants receive a RCA water bottle. The 5K course will take you through some of your favorite local streets south of Randolph Road and on the Rock Creek Park Hiker/Biker Trail. The Kid’s Fun Run will be held within the immediate area of the park. Details, including course information and sign-up information, are posted below. Please check the site frequently for updates. Be sure to stick around for more RCA Community Day festivities afterwards.

Both events are free but please register below prior to Oct. 2.  This will help us prepare accordingly.

The RCA Community Bazaar (formerly the Yard Sale) is set for Saturday, May 4th, 2013 from 8:00am-1:00pm at Loehmann’s Plaza.

Show up early and claim a good spot! RCA members get a free space; Non-members pay $10 per space. Remember, you must bring your own tables.

Fun, Fitness and Food are all waiting for you on Saturday, October 6. Come and join your neighbors for this exciting day!   Community Day will be held at Randolph Hills Local Park pavilion from 12:00 -2:00.  This year’s entertainment list will feature hyper local talent, Park Police on horseback, and free tennis lessons from county representatives!  Come on out – bring your running shoes, tennis racket, and camera!   But wait there’s more…

Dynamite Gymnastics (located in Randolph Hills Shopping Center) has graciously offered to host a party for our neighborhood families, residents, and guests from 1:00pm-3:00pm. The party will featuring performances by Mr. Knick Knack and Monkees cover band, The Stepping Stones. After some brief remarks from Councilmember Roger Berliner, the Stepping Stones will perform at 1:10pm followed by Mr. Knick Knack at 2:10pm. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided.

Come out and join the Randolph Hills Community on Saturday, October 17 in Randolph Hills Shopping Center. The event is planned from 11AM to 3PM. This will be an opportunity to meet your neighbors, have some fun and learn about what’s going on in the community. You can get more details from the Community Day Flyer.

The RCA Fall Yard Sale is this Saturday, September 26th, from 7:30am-1:30pm at the Loehmann’s Plaza Shopping Center on Randolph Road. Booth space is free to paid RCA members, all others pay $10. RCA volunteers will be on hand to collect RCA membership forms and dues.

Make sure you come check out the fun, there will be plenty of good stuff to buy, food and fun for the whole family. See you there!
